Purpose
In the Department of Security, the Security Guard is responsible for the safety of the Baha’i Gardens and will facilitate the orderly visits of tourists, VIPs, staff, and contractors to Baha’i property in a secure and efficient manner. Patrol and maintain presence outside of public visiting hours.
Monthly shift schedule of 8 hours per shift, 6 days a week, with 30 minutes paid break. The shift schedules are: 0700 – 1500, 0900 – 1700, and 1500 – 2300. The schedule will be adjusted in consultation with the manager every week and will be subject to change according to the needs of the Department.
Responsibilities
- Perform security checks of the public as they enter the Baha’i Gardens, by checking their bags and scanning them
- Check IDs of staff members and Baha’i visitors
- Setup the gate before the Gardens open; maintain equipment; ensure break rooms and guard shacks remain clean
- Enforce the Baha’i World Center dress code
- Open and close the gate
- Ensure proper uniform standards are maintained
- Check documents of Baha’i pilgrims
- Allow appropriate access for Baha’i volunteer staff and employee staff
- Follow special procedures for Baha’i pilgrims
- Follow special procedures for special events
- Ensure parking limitations are clear
- Respond to comments and questions appropriately
- Enforce rules of entry
- Be prepared for special tours hosted by the Office of Israel Affairs
- Provide coverage at the Shrine area and surrounding gates as needed
- Redirect deliveries to the appropriate office

Skill Requirements
- Language skills: English (required), Hebrew, Arabic
- Alert and attentive throughout the shift
- Punctual
- Physically fit as the job is demanding and requires standing at gates for hours
Other:
- Have security license
- Have security training: scanning, emergency protocol, alterative scanning methods for pregnant mothers, etc.
